This summer was very interesting because I got to help coach a baseball team. One the players came up to me and asked if I could help him become a better athlete on the field. At first, I did not know it he was first time playing a actual sport. So after every practice we focused on batting stance, hitting the baseball, and ground balls. Now he is one the most improved and is a better athlete on the team.
First project
In order to be a great baseball player the first thing you need to make sure is to have a great balance stance. Then make sure the weight should be on the balls of your feet and your knees should be slightly bent. Whether you are guarding a player in basketball or standing at the plate, you always want to be in an athletic, balanced position. A lot of young athletes make the mistake of leaning all of their weight back on there heels. That is a bad position to start from and will cause balance problems as you stride forward and swing the bat. What angel was doing wrong was standing straight up and his feet were together.when your feet are too close together in your stance it can cause a number of problems including a difficult time keeping your head level, keeping your weight back during the stride, timing the pitch, and adjusting to off-speed pitches. Everyday after practice that was the number one thing we worked on wide stance has to be because it should be slightly wider than shoulder width apart and y have some flex in his knees.then making sure his stance is square, so he can see the ball with both eyes.

Second project
I noticed in practice angel would swing the like if was chopping wood with an axes. Every time he would swing he missed the baseball and get striked out. So we did a couple drills after practice and one drill that angel like a lot was fun-go drill. For this drill you have to work through the sequence of a swing and making sure that there swing is in the proper sequence. Then to make contact in the proper place, you must toss the ball out in front of your body just slightly. The batter is focusing on hitting ground balls and fly balls. After the drills, i would pitch it to him and he would he the ball perfect every time.

Third Project
For baseball it is important to be able to catch ground balls but for angel it was difficult him to catch a ground ball. One drill that helped Angel out a lot was the triangle drill. You use three baseball and set the balls up in a triangle, with the apex of the triangle slightly toward the left ball to promote left eye alignment. Then you want to make sure the two other points of the triangle to be wider than shoulder width but not so far that the infielder would be doing the splits. Also the athlete has to make sure when the fielder reaches out to apex of the triangle with the glove, his hands are in front of the bill his cap, but not so far that his glove arm is locked out. He most important part is to make sure the head should is down and the eyes should be on the ball.
